Optimisation of CO2 emission and fuel efficiency of a MAN B&W 6S50ME-B8 main engine with a MAN Diesel TCA66 (w/VTA) Turbocharger. Development of a control strategy for a variable turbine installed on an electronically controlled engine.
- Integration of turbocharger into the engine control system. Optimisation of SFOC (hereby reducing CO2 emissions), whilst fulfilling IMO Tier I requirements for NOx emissions.
- Verification of engine performance measurements during shop test, and comparison to camshaft controlled engine with non-variable turbochargers.
- Subsequent calculation of annual CO2 emission for a ship with an average load profile.
