Network Partners

Green Ship of the Future has established a Network partnership agreement with leading Danish maritime organisations. The role of the Network Partners is to provide a network and to communicate events and project results to their respective members.

Danish Marine Group

Due to Denmark’s geography, merchant marine has always been a major factor in the Danish economy, giving rise to numerous marine-related companies which have achieved worldwide acclaim for their skills within key areas such as design, quality, excellence and reliability.

The Danish Marine Group was established to initiate and support cooperation between our members and marine companies worldwide through exchange of information, joint initiatives and close collaboration between members.

Danish Maritime
Danish Maritime is an industrial association formed in 1919 by Danish-rooted businesses within the fields of maritime production, development, research and service with the aim to collectively represent the interests of maritime and offshore businesses.

The purpose of Danish Maritime is to bring together the leading Danish-based companies in maritime production, development and service in order to safeguard the common interests of the industry.

Danish Shipowners

The Danish Shipowners' Association was established in 1884 and represents Denmark's shipping industry. It is an employer organization which concludes wage agreements with the seamen's unions and handles all matters concerning employment, safety and training within the shipping and offshore industry.

Further, the Association is a trade organization representing Danish shipowners when dealing with the Danish Government, Parliament and other authorities, as well as with the media. The Association is active internationally, both as an adviser to government delegations in several OECD and United Nations bodies and as a member of various international shipowners' organizations.

The Danish Shipowners' Association is also permanently represented in Brussels through its own office. Recently, the administration of the two Danish organizations for short sea shipping and ferry services has been incorporated into the Association.

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency

The Danish EPA contributes to setting out targets and reparing strategies and action plans as the basis for government work. Our work includes strategies for waste, environmental factors and health, and action plans on chemicals and eco-technology. Work is in close cooperation with the EU, Danish Environment  Centres, Regions and Municipalities.

The Danish EPA prepares the decision basis for the Minister for the Environment and executes the political decisions of the government and parliament. We handle about 1,000 very different ministerial cases each year. From draft bills on contaminated soil and replies to citizens’ inquiries about allergenic substances or the smoke from a neighbour’s woodburning stove, to proposals for new political initiatives in the waste area.

The Danish Maritime Authority

Our field of responsibility is based on the shipping industry and its framework conditions, the ship and its crew. In other words, the Danish Maritime Authority is responsible for the following:

  • The construction, equipment and operation of Danish ships (including safety, prevention of terrorism, safety of navigation, manning, occupational health and environmental protection) as well as port state control of foreign ships calling at Danish ports;
  • Ship registration;
  • The training, education, employment, health and social conditions of seafarers;
  • Shipping policy, maritime law as well as national and international industrial policy.

The jurisdiction covers both the merchant fleet and the fishing industry. However, the Danish Maritime Authority is not responsible for fishing operations, which are under the jurisdiction of the Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries.

The Danish Maritime Authority has the overall responsibility for the maritime training and educational system, consisting of taxameter-funded independent institutions.

The Transport Innovation Network

The Transport Innovation Network (TINV) is a national, cross disciplinary network aimed at the Danish Transport sector. The primary objectives of TINV are to create synergy, encourage match-making and generate research and development projects between stakeholders in the transport sector and research- and educational institutions, as well as related sectors such as energy and infrastructure.

Denmark’s competitive position depends on the technological leadership of the transport sector. Accordingly, it is paramount for the Danish transport sector to be able to draw on the latest technology knowledge and research. Through a number of sub-activities, TINV works to gather the different players across the transport scene with the aim of creating synergy, identifying the need for new technologies and initiating projects between our members to ensure development and implementation of these.
